SO YOU SUCK…AT MARKETING
We found out via the Championdrive Podcast, that many of the questions or frustrations people have were regarding keeping up with marketing…hence our new series SO YOU SUCK…AT MARKETING.

We decided to incorporate this series into our podcast, social media pages, and websites as a way to offer some friendly pointers! So if you think you suck…no worries, we’ve got you covered. We’re here to help! After all, marketing is WHAT WE DO.

First "SO YOU SUCK" topic: “I’m struggling to keep my website updated along with my social media.”

We get it – everyone’s busy. Here are a few tips to make it manageable!

1. All websites through Novel Designs include unlimited updates, so send in your updates whenever you can. When you get in from the barn at night, take 5 minutes to send in 1 or 2 winner pictures, a sire to add, or upcoming sale info. It doesn’t have to be all at once, send them in as you have time and work on them for a few minutes each day!

Our team is full of livestock junkies, so we are pretty good at figuring out what caption goes with what picture and deciphering directions.

2. DID YOU KNOW: We offer social media packages where we take care of POSTING your winners to both your website AND your social media pages? Simply send off the picture and info to us, and boom, we’ll take it from there so you can focus on the rest of your tasks.

In addition, we can advise you on the best times to post, when to post, what to post, and build social media graphics to make important announcements. Reach out to any of the Novel Designs crew for more info.

3. MAKE IT EASY. Have us implement a “Winners Submission Form” on your website, where your customers can upload their winners picture/show name/showman info and we take care of posting them directly to your website and/or social media.  Sounds Easy Right – Because it is!

Marketing is all about having a “mix” – with so many platforms to be present on, it can be daunting to take care of it all and take care of everything in the barn. Give us a shout to help strengthen your marketing!

SO YOU SUCK…AT MARKETING

So You Suck…At Marketing – Is back! This time let’s talk about the importance of logo design.

Having a logo in the proper file format (and knowing when to use each file format type) is an absolute game changer for your marketing – It’s something you’ll want to be able to use across all different types of marketing materials, so it only makes sense to start out and invest in getting a good logo in the correct file formats.

A little Logo 101 to start with– file formats can be one of two types:

- Vector (This is a file format such as an AI or EPS file, that will resize and rescale without a loss of quality or clarity – This is preferred for printing (think trailer graphics, signage, apparel printing, decals, etc).

- Raster (This is a file format such as a png or jpg) that is useful for some web graphics and social media graphics. Png graphics typically will have a transparent background, which alleviates the need from having to cut out your logo to place on colored backgrounds.

So what if I already have a logo, but it’s looking a little dated? This is where a LOGO REFRESH comes into play! This is common to do, and we see this across brands all over the world – revamping your logo slightly to look more modern and updated.  This is also a great way to make sure you’ve got your logo in the proper file formats going forward.

If you’re thinking about getting started on either a new Logo Design or a Logo Refresh project, we make the process easy.

1. Simply reach out to us at updates@thenoveldesigns.com and we’ll send you our logo design pricing and form.

2. Fill out the form & Pay your deposit – this gets a little bit of info about what you are or aren’t looking for in your logo.  (Some people are very detailed about what they are looking for, other people don’t know what they want and provide little info – either is fine with us).

3. Our team will get to work – Typically Kali, Jill, and Steva tackle the logo design projects and we come up with 3 different proofs for you to consider based off of the information you provided.

4. Provide your feedback – Maybe you love logo option 2 and that’s the one you want to go with! Or, perhaps you like parts of logo 1 and logo 3 and want us to morph them together or integrate pieces from each in a revised logo.  Let us know your thoughts and we’ll get to work on a round of revisions.

5. Once we’ve got your logo exactly how you’d like it, we’ll finish with the remainder of your payment and then send over your new logo file in 5 different formats so you have them for every scenario you might need!

Having your logo professionally designed right out of the gate will save you time and trouble going forward.
